1950’s Housewife Themed Bridal Shower

You know I love me some theme parties, and this shower on Hostess With the Mostess is just so colorful and fun!

Bride to be Kristen described the party as inspired by a combination of “1950’s housewife meets Katy Perry and Dita Von Teese” and held it at a real-life vintage soda fountain. (TIP: try to find a venue that already emphasizes your theme for no-brainer decorations) Enjoy the full post with more special details HERE.

If you be my honeysuckle, I’ll be your honey bee…

Lately I’ve been on an out-of-character country music kick, and my new favorite song is “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton. {If you haven’t heard it, I highly recommend :)} But more importantly, I’m loving this honeybee themed wedding shoot featured on Style Me Pretty! Event Designer Lauren Ledbetter and Photographer Brooke Boling worked together to create a simple and sweet wedding shoot that has too many details to even talk about. Please visit the full post HERE for more photos and the vendor guide.

You Are My Shooting Star

I know I say this pretty frequently, but I am SO IN LOVE with this wedding shoot! Maddy Hague of The Inspired Bride styled this “Graphic and Glitz” shoot that is literally way too big to even begin to summarize in one post. Do yourself a big favor and check out both Part 1 and Part 2 of the full post!

And my very favorite part…DIY star swizzle sticks! Follow Maddy’s tutorial HERE.

“Shabby Chic Easter Picnic”

I’ll be honest…I’m not someone who’s usually into anything described as “shabby chic.” I can appreciate it, but it’s just not my vibe. However, I can get behind this “Shabby Chic Easter Picnic” from Melissa of Ever So Pretty Events! I love the sweet, mellow tones and how she uses ruffled tulle to add a touch of glamor to the already beautiful picnic spot. Be sure to visit her site HERE for more photos and descriptions.

On a related note, if you want to make your own ruffled garlands but can’t seem to master a sewing machine (come join my boat), learn how to make your own very cute ruffled garlands out of a plastic tablecloth by checking out this Cupcakes and Cutlery tutorial HERE! I promise they aren’t–(ahem)–ghetto like they sound.

DIY Decorations: Cupcake Liner Love

I can imagine a time when cupcake liners were used solely for their functional purpose: to provide a cup in which to bake miniature cakes. However, somewhere along the line someone got creative, and the lowly liner has now been elevated to a new VIP status!

This is just a small collection of DIY decoration ideas to make using simple, budget-friendly cupcake liners. I can see them fitting in perfectly as low cost decor at your upcoming Valentine’s party, baby/bridal shower or even at an engagement photo shoot. Enjoy!

1. Heart Wreath

This lovely wreath was created by Kathleen from Twig & Thistle for a special-edition Valentine’s DIY project for Fossil! Click HERE for her tutorial and HERE to see the entire Fossil DIY collection.

2. Garland

There’s no “correct” way to do these, but the gist is always the same. Add doilies, paper circles, newspaper or even coffee filters to achieve the look you want. Hang horizontally or vertically. Click HERE for a good tutorial from 100 Layer Cake.

3. Pom Poms

No one will believe how easy these were to make! Place them on top of a candlestick to form a table centerpiece, or hang them from trees or the ceiling using ribbon or fishing line. Click HERE for the tutorial.

4. Paper Flowers

So whimsical! And they never die. Intimate Weddings gives a good tutorial HERE.

These are the answer to a Japanese lantern alternative that won’t break the bank! HERE is a how-to guide from Camilla at Family Chic.

LOVE ROCKS! Rock Star Themed Valentine’s Party

Natalie of Southern Belle’s Charm created this awesome “Love Rocks!” themed Valentine’s party and I absolutely love it! Every little detail just screams rock and roll, from the paint splattered cupcakes on the guitar-themed dessert table to the tattoo-inspired banners. While this party was made for children, I can easily see it being tweaked for a birthday or bridal shower.
